For that reason, we will accept waitlisted registrations until April 1 (or until full) and begin to meet with individuals and determine the makeup of the group in March/April. You will be informed of your participation in that window of time.

The Camino de Santiago is a long trek, an ancient pilgrimage route, across France, Portugal, and Northern Spain. It's the third-most attended holy pilgrimage for Christians and Catholics; outside the Holy Land and Rome. For centuries, the pilgrimage has been a place where people of all faiths come to contemplate, walk, talk to the Creator, walk some more and enjoy the simplicity the Camino invites. The Cathedral of Santiago de Compestela, where remains of St. James the apostle are buried, is the definitive culmination of all Camino routes, and the route embodies the "missionary spirit" of James in the growth of the early Church. Camino means "I walk", but it also translates "The Way". Meaning He is the Way, and will provide a way and clarity on the road of life. In reality there are many pilgrimage routes and ONE WAY! Traditionally the pilgrimage started when you walked out your front door, and eventually trekked your way to Spain and to the city of Santiago de Compostella! This tradition requires tweaking for the majority of pilgrims today coming from around the world. As the saying goes: "tu camino es tu camino" (your path is your path)--meaning we are all on our own journey, precisely where we are meant to be. Yet we do not journey alone!

The Camino de Santiago has been chosen for a week long group pilgrimage for a number of reasons. The primary reason being a powerful and unique integrative experience connecting our bodies, our minds and our hearts. When we intentionally invite our bodies to join, or rather lead the way, we are welcoming a deeper and richer experience, and hear God much more clearly. When our bodies lead, we begin to pay attention to our limitations in life, not just for a week, but also for a lifetime. In this space, we begin to find our more authentic and sustainable self attended to in self-care in a different posture of readiness.

The route chosen for our pilgrimage is a section of the Camino Portugues (The Portuguese Way) starting at the very northern edge of Portugal, entering into Spain, and culminating at Santiago de Compostela. This area is known for its wide variety of landscapes, rural villages and beautiful, baroque churches. We will be embarking on a one-week portion of this famous route, for one week of trekking as a group, and our group will be capped at 8 people; so space is limited!

This price includes:

  • guided trip by experienced guides (6 days of trekking)
  • all accommodations during the hiking days (6 nights in generally small hotels or nicer albergues/hostels)
  • all food during the hike (1-2 meals per day eaten at Spanish restaurants & cafes; other meals prepared together)
  • any normal ground transport needs during our time together
  • all preparation tools and resources, including an official Camino Prep Guide, suggested training schedule and intriguing spiritual readings
  • Three group Zoom calls for preparation, follow-up, learning and community connection
  • official Camino passport
  • exposure to some of the TWB leadership and transition tools, for your own leadership enrichment, as well as a sense for the work we do with global ministry leaders

* Transportation to our start point and from our finish point is on your own. Please don't book flights until the leader gives instruction or you connect with info@thewaybetween.org. Plan travel days on both sides of the six scheduled days of walking.

The Camino can be strenuous and may require significant intentional training leading up to departure time. Please take this into consideration. Details and questions will be discussed during group preparation. Exact route and overnights will be determined based on the number of participants and lodging restrictions.

Thank you for your willingness to engage in this truly spiritually transformative pilgrimage! This application does not necessarily secure your spot. We will be selecting the group through interview process on an individual basis, based on several factors, including your willingness and ability to engage the training.
